Last Tuesday, we took Sophie to the Dayton Mall to visit with the Easter Bunny. She was very excited to get her picture taken with the bunny. However, once we got to the mall and she saw the bunny, her excitement quickly turned to terror. Mike even tried holding her hand while she was on the bunny's lap, but nothing would help. Happy Easter!!!

Sophie is 11 months old now! It is hard to believe she has only been with us for such a short time, as we can't imagine life without her. Sophie, we love you so much!!!

The Popper!

Sophie got a Fisher Price popper for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Schaeff. Since she can walk now, we decided to bring out the popper. It has taken about a week to get used to it (and not be afraid of the popping!), but Sophie is now a popping professional!

"Little Mommy"

We found a Little Tikes baby carriage at a garage sale; brought it home; cleaned it up; and gave it to Sophie. She loves it! She has pushed her doll babies up and down the driveway hundreds of times (she has also pulled her babies out of the stroller and run them over with it!). Sophie loves being a "Little Mommy" and strolling her babies around!

St. Patrick's Day!

First St. Patty's Day!

Last Wednesday was Sophie's first St. Patrick's Day! Normally, we go to Ron's Pizza in the 'Burg for the big event, but Mike had to work this year, so we went for dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Schaeff and some of their friends. Afterwards, since it was such a nice evening, we got to play outside. It was a fun day, but we can't wait until next year when we can celebrate as a family!

Sophie loves Aunt Megan!

Last Tuesday, Grandma and Grandpa Leamy, Aunt Megan, and Thommy all came to visit for Aunt Megan's birthday. We had a great time visiting, playing outside in the nice weather, going to the Mexican restaurant, eating cake, and opening presents. Megan even got to wear a sombrero while everyone sang "Happy Birthday" at the restaurant! After dinner we all came back to our house for cake and presents. Sophie got to try some cake and helped Aunt Megan open her gifts.

Since Spring has been in the air here in Ohio these last few days, we have taken every opportunity possible to get outside and enjoy the weather. Sophie loves playing outside! She has practiced her walking on the driveway, and even gotten some reading in!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! As of February 27, Sophia Krapf is 10 months old! She has been very busy this past month. She learned to crawl, then stand up on her own, then walk holding onto things, and finally WALK with no assistance. She has also added clapping, waving, and (sometimes) blowing kisses to her bag of tricks. She is such a big girl! We love her so much and are so glad that she is in our lives!

Sophie took her first steps Sunday, February 28th, while she was visiting Grandma and Grandpa Schaeff's house. She decided that she would try to walk from the couch to the ottoman (a 5 step walk) all on her own. Within a few days, she was trying to walk everywhere!

Here's Sophie!

Pampers was having a contest on their website to find babies for a baby relay commercial. We uploaded a video of Sophie crawling and they put her on their website! Sophie didn't end up getting picked for the commercial, because her crawling was too slow and didn't fit the pace of the commercial music, but she did have her 15 minutes of fame on the Pampers website!

On Valentine's Day, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Schaeff's house for dinner and visiting. We had some yummy food, and Sophie got to show off her new crawling skills. Grandma and Grandpa also got Sophie some new toys to play with while she visits and she enjoyed trying them all out!

Snow Day!

Sledding!

In the past few days, we have gotten more than a foot of snow and are expecting more tonight! During a lull in the weather this afternoon, we decided to get bundled up and take Sophie out to play. We started out with a sled ride down the street. Everything was going well until the sled hit a chunk of ice (Sophie had a seatbelt). Sophie got scared and started crying. I ended up carrying the sled (with her in it) all the way back to the house. We were done with sledding for the day! After the sledding, we tried playing in the snow for a few minutes. The snow was almost as high as Sophie! Finally, we took a few pictures on the snow banks and decided it was time to head back indoors. Sophie was so exhausted from playing in the snow that she took an extra nap today!

Sophie and Grandpa Leamy

Last Friday, we took a trip to Columbus to go to the credit union and payoff the loan on my car. While we were there, we met up with my parents, Megan, and Thommy to eat. Everyone had a good meal and Sophie got to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Leamy and Aunt Megan. Sophie got a chance to show off her new teeth and her newly learned standing skills for everyone. Grandma and Grandpa also brought presents! Overall, it was a great day!

9 Months Old!!

Happy Birthday, Sophie! As of January 27, Sophia Krapf is 9 months old! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. She is such a big girl now! In just the last few weeks, Sophie has gotten her first 2 teeth, learned to crawl, learned to pull herself up into a standing position, learned to stand on her own, and has even taken a few steps on her own. Before we know it we will be chasing her around the house!

Sophie had her 9 month check-up with the pediatrician last week, as well. We think she remembered being at the doctor's office, because she immediately began wailing when we put her on the examination table. She ended up getting 2 shots and a finger prick to check her hemoglobin levels. It's a good thing the office wasn't very busy, because Sophie screamed at the top of her lungs! She got a perfect bill of health from the doctor--she is in the 60th percentile for weight at 19 lbs. 8 oz. and the 75th percentile for height at 28.5 inches. She even managed a few smiles for the doctor (before the shots)!

Finally, Sophie is officially a crib sleeper now! After reading practically every book written on sleep training, we tried the "cry it out" method with Sophie. The first two nights she cried for around an hour. Now, she barely cries at all when we put her in the crib, and she sleeps all night in the crib!

Zoo Trip

Fun at the Zoo!

Last Saturday we went on a daytrip to the Cincinnati Zoo with our friends JB, Charrell Mclean and their son, John. Sophie and John are about the same age and we thought it would be nice to get them together to become friends (John is 18 days older than Sophie). We had a nice time despite the cold weather. We saw tons of animals: lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, penguins, elephants, rhinos, reptiles, and the aquarium. Sophie's favorite animals were a gigantic snake and a scary-looking turtle with sharp claws! She loved the aquarium too!

We took advantage of the light snow last week to take Sophie sledding in the backyard in her new sled that she got for Christmas (thanks Grandma and Grandpa Schaeff!). Even though we could only stay outside for a few minutes because it was so cold, Sophie really seemed to enjoy herself. She didn't cry at all!

Eight Months Old

Sophie at 8 months old

Happy Birthday! Sophie turned 8 months old on December 27. She is growing up so fast! Just this month alone, she has gotten her first tooth (the middle-left on the bottom), learned to crawl both backwards and forwards, learned to sit up from a lying down position, and now has learned to pull herself into a standing position when she is holding onto someone or a piece of furniture. Sophie has also been enjoying a variety of fruits and vegetables, learned to sip water from a sippy cup, and is able to eat cereal puffs that dissolve in her mouth. These last 8 months have flown by; everyday is a new adventure with Sophie. We can't imagine life without her and love her more than anything in the world!

On the Sunday after Christmas, Mike's half-sister Meagan came to our house to meet Sophie for the first time. At first, Sophie was scared of her hat, but warmed up to her quickly after she removed it. We had a nice time chatting with Meagan. Sophie is excited that she has now met both of her aunts, Aunt Megan and Aunt Meagan!

First Christmas Part 2

Merry Christmas! We were supposed to go to Granville for Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Leamy and Aunt Megan on Christmas Eve, but my mom was sick, so we had our Christmas on the 26th. We had a busy day! We saw Aunt Megan's new house; visited with Leah and Susie Hannahs (Sophie loves her turtle blanket!); ate pizza from Pizza Cottage; and opened presents with my parents, Megan, and Thommy (Mince, too!). Sophie also got to meet Aunt Megan's best friend Kim for the first time. Sophie had such a busy day at Grandma and Grandpa's that she had to make a costume change into her Christmas pajamas before we opened presents!

First Christmas Part I

Our little tree

Merry Christmas! This was Sophie's first Christmas! Our little tree had piles of presents under it this year (mostly for little Sophie). Santa was very good to Sophie, as well, bringing her a stocking full of goodies and presents. Christmas morning, we opened presents with Sophie at home, and then headed to Mike's parents house for Christmas with his family and Christmas dinner. Sophie got to open more presents at Grandma and Grandpa Schaeff's house. Santa even left a stocking for Sophie at their house! Sophie got lots of wonderful things on Christmas Day, but the best gift of all was her first tooth!
